DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Assistant Professor in Sociology. The position is a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track appointment, to begin August 16, 2010.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Sociology by August 16, 2010.  The successful candidate will have an excellent record of research or research potential, provide evidence of teaching ability, and be prepared to teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will advance the commitment of the College of Liberal Arts to building excellence in the study of the social aspects of human health and well-being.  The successful candidate will contribute to departmental area strengths.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include conducting independent research leading to publication, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in sociology, mentoring students, and engaging in collegial intellectual interaction. In addition, the occupant of the position will be expected to contribute to University and Departmental governance through service on appropriate committees, and to serve the university, professional, state, and national communities in ways appropriate to training and rank.
