DESCRIPTION OF POSITION (#042176)
Assistant Professor, Speech and Hearing Sciences, permanent tenure track; 9-month appointment, summer teaching possible; position located in Spokane, WA.
STARTING DATE

RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include: (1) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in child language development and disorders to include autism; (2) conducting research leading to publication in areas of specialization and developing a line of research with the potential for external funding; (3) directing master’s research projects/theses.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Doctorate in speech-language pathology or closely related field by 8/16/10 and evidence of strong research potential. Preference given to applicants with interest in childhood language development and disorders or adolescent language/literacy including autism; CCC-SLP; documented ability to teach and a history of positive interaction with and mentoring of students.
THE UNIVERSITY

The Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences is located in the heart of the inland northwest on the Spokane campus. The Department’s undergraduate and graduate programs operate cooperatively with Eastern Washington University. The new Health Sciences Building, on the Spokane River near downtown Spokane, houses state-of-the-art clinic, academic, and research facilities for the graduate program.
Opportunities for outdoor recreation abound, including world-class mountaineering, rafting, fishing, backpacking, camping, mountain biking, etc. Within easy reach are multiple mountain ranges, numerous lakes, large rivers, and a number of national and state parks.
