The Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate at Washington State University is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, permanent, tenure-track position at the Vancouver, WA campus. We will consider candidates at the rank of assistant professor.
Qualifications: Required Qualifications Candidates must possess a Ph.D. (or strong evidence that the candidate will complete the Ph.D. before the appointment date) in Finance or closely related field from a nationally or internationally recognized university. Qualified candidates must demonstrate a research record or research promise to publish in and/or target the field’s premier journals. Successful candidate will be expected to teach corporate finance/banking and investments courses. A commitment to excellence in teaching and demonstration of teaching effectiveness are also required. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence (or strong evidence of ability) in banking and financial investments research and/or experience; and make service contributions by helping develop ties with the region’s financial community. We are especially interested in candidates who demonstrate knowledge and ability to work effectively with diverse student and community populations, and contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service.
Term, Compensation and Support: The term of appointment is a nine-month academic year, beginning on August 16, 2010. Normal teaching load is six hours (two courses per semester). Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience; benefits are competitive; the retirement system is TIAA/CREF. Initial summer research support is normally available.
General Information: WSU Vancouver is located on a beautiful 351-acre campus across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon. The campus currently has ~2600 students and ~120 full-time faculty (Business Programs has 14 faculty and ~400 students), but is expected to increase significantly in the next 5-10 years. Business faculty at all WSU campuses are part of the College of Business, which offers AACSB accredited programs at undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. levels (Ph.D. based on the Pullman campus). Finance faculty members of the Vancouver campus are fully participating and voting members of the Department of Finance on the main campus in Pullman, WA, though they reside in Vancouver, WA, and are expected to interact regularly with the rest of the Finance faculty system wide.
