The Science Programs at the Vancouver Campus and the Mathematics Department of Washington State University invite applications for one full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in applied mathematics or statistics, located in Vancouver. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and collaborative individual who applies mathematical or statistical techniques to biological, physical and/or environmental problems. Area of specialization is open, but exceptional scholars who complement the strengths of existing science faculty are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a PhD in mathematics, statistics or a closely-related field by date of hire, and demonstrate high potential to establish an externally funded research program in mathematics/statistics that includes mentoring diverse graduate and undergraduate students. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and to incorporate issues of diversity in curricular offerings and service activities. Required qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, statistics or a closely-related discipline by date of hire with primary expertise in mathematics.

Desired qualifications:

  • demonstrated ability to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses; successful externally-funded research program; strong publication record; ability to contribute to the diversity goals of the university and program in research, teaching, and service.

WSU Vancouver offers both undergraduate and graduate programs and is expected to double its student body (currently 2,800) and faculty in the coming years.
