WSU Leadership Development - Growth, Direction, Opportunity

 Many of the Training and Development courses coordinated by Human Resource Services are conveniently grouped to address the needs and interests of specific WSU audiences.  Based on your career development goals and professional responsibilities, you may choose to attend selected courses within a group or to complete the entire series.  Intended audiences and objectives are identified in the list below.  Links to schedules, resources and online enrollment are also included.

Supervisory Training

 Target Audience:  Current Supervisors and Managers

Designed to meet the training requirements defined by WAC 357-34 and required of all entry level supervisors, this series is an opportunity to learn new supervisory skills and refresh current knowledge.

The Enhanced Supervisory Training Series is designed to further develop the leadership skills of experienced WSU leads, supervisors and managers.

Target Audience:  Current Chairs, Faculty and Directors of Academic Units

The Office of the Provost sponsors this annual series to examine such topics as faculty performance reviews, personnel issues and recruitment, as well as graduate student and undergraduate student issues.

Target Audience:  Employees with fiscal management responsibilities

Three concept areas have been developed to deepen knowledge and skills of WSU accounting systems, processes and procedures.

Global Resources, Education and Training (GREAT)

Target Audience:  All faculty, students and staff

Various WSU offices collaborate with Human Resource Services to provide learning opportunities that enhance cross-cultural understanding.  Purposefully broad and ranging across a variety of professional and academic concerns, many of these courses are of unique interest to WSU faculty and advisors while others are appropriate for the entire university community.

Target Audience:  Employees with grant administration responsibilities

WSU Career Fundamentals

Target Audience:  All WSU employees

This series aims at helping WSU employees enhance their careers, jobs and work-life management.  The courses cover a variety of topics, including résumé-building and interviewing techniques, skills assessment, WSU employment regulations, communication, and worklife balance.

WSU Libraries Research Workshops

 

Target Audience:  All faculty, students and staff

WSU Library Instruction Program experts work with Human Resource Services each year to create a schedule of opportunities to help faculty, staff, and students manage their research endeavors.  Such topics as keeping up with the latest communication aids, finding journals and other resources in the libraries, and posting findings on a web page.  Learn more through the following link:
